Meet Illustrator of the Month, Celina Josens

---

I have been an illustrator for many years. I love the stories I have worked on, each with differing characteristics, styles, techniques and an individual essence. All my projects seem to conquer a corner of my soul, but working on the book Nova and the Butterfly Princess was something special and magical for me. I knew this book was for me when I learned it was about the cultures of the North American Tribes and explored their deep love and respect for nature.

I loved reading each paragraph as I made the drawings by hand, as though they were an extension of the natural spirit of the book. The words inspired me to create watercolor images with a distinct softness, rich textures and the ethereal shapes that emerge from reading the story. Like a twist of fate, the universe brought Lulu Edge and I together at the perfect moment in time to create something truly beautiful and unique. I hope the readers enjoy the book Nova and the Butterfly Princess as much as I had creating it.

Aconcagua, the highest peak of the Andes Mountains-Its beauty, perfection and grandeur made me cry.

Favorite Season:

Summer because it is when I go on vacation with my family and enjoy the sun, walks, friends, beach and all the wonderful green spaces and wonderful things in nature.

Favorite Pastime

Drinking mate, which is a tea made from the yerba plant, and sitting in my garden watching the birds. Of course, my pets are there keeping my company!

Favorite Flower:

Jasmine for its perfume and the memory of my mother.

Wish For The Future:

A global change in thinking and a place where technologies do not threaten life but improve it.

Favorite Thing Character In The Story Nova The Butterfly Princess:

Princess Nova and then Tokala the fox.

Favorite Autumn Food

Stews that my husband makes and my grandmother Susy's stew.

Favorite Camping Trip:

When I stayed with my family on a beach at the DeNicola Reserve. At night we had magical bonfires, and we could see the glow of the stars and the ocean.

Nova the Butterfly Princess

Another whimsical collaboration from Lulu Edge and illustrator Celi Josen. Nova is the beloved princess of the Butterfly clan. With her magic satchel every year, Nova makes certain that spring arrives until one fateful fall after the great feast, the satchel disappears. Tokala, a cunning and sly red fox decides he must have the magic of the satchel all for himself and hides it away in his winter burrow. Will Nova and her animal friends be able to find the satchel, and rescue it in time for spring, or will the world remain bitter and cold forever?
